How to Go Green in 4 Sustainable Steps.

When it comes to going green and living a more eco-friendly lifestyle, it may seem overwhelming. You might feel like you have so many changes to make, that it’s too much of a hassle and you don’t know where to start.

Well, don’t worry. We have a few steps that will help you along your journey! We want to begin by telling you that part of going green is making sure that you are aware of your lifestyle, and starting with small steps to make sure you are treating the planet a little nicer. So, buckle in and let’s talk about what you can do to save the planet. Check your current products.

When you look at your cleaning, bathroom, kitchen, make-up, or beauty products, you may see the brands that you know and love. But those brands you know might not be the best when it comes to living a green lifestyle. So, we suggest looking at what brands you use and checking what they do to help contribute to a greener earth.

Do they use recycled plastics or glass bottles? Are the ingredients they use earth-friendly? These are great questions to be asking and researching, that way you are making a difference in all aspects of your life. If you find that they aren’t earth conscious, we recommend finishing up that product and then investing in something different next time you are at the store.

Make a list for improvements

Once you have looked over your current products, you will start to see where you are lacking when it comes to your sustainability. That means the time has come to make a list of where you can improve and what new products you can start to incorporate into your life to help make changes.

Now, remember, Rome wasn’t built in a day, so it is important to be patient with yourself and this process. Allow yourself some grace, and know that even small changes make an impact. You can even create a timeline of when you want to try things out and when you want to have them accomplished by. Writing your plans down in a notebook is a great start. Do a few remodels.

On your list of improvements, you may realize that you wrote down home upgrades, too, like adding solar panels, or updating your windows to make them thicker and more energy efficient, or updating your roofing. To get all these upgrades completed, you may need to invest a pretty penny into it.

The good news is that you may end up saving even more money in the long run—plus you’re saving the planet at the same time! In some cases, you can qualify for PACE financing, which can help you along the way. It will alleviate the financial burden home upgrades cause, and help you get well on your way to being more sustainable.

Cut down on paper products

We know how easy it is to have paper towels, plates, and napkins, and to use them instead of ceramic or linens, but using products like that on a daily basis, multiple times a day can be extremely detrimental to the environment. So, if you can, start by trying to use your reusable products for 1 of your 3 meals a day. Then slowly move to 2 and then finally to 3 meals a day.

This is a small step that can not only help to save the earth, but can also save you a hefty sum of cash. If you don’t have a good set of plates, spend some money on them once by buying a sturdy set, and you likely won’t have to buy another set for years.

Like we said before, no step is too small when it comes to sustainability. So, don’t be afraid to make those changes and work your way toward a more green, eco-friendly lifestyle. You, and the planet, will be glad you did.
