Brush and Floss Twice Daily

Brush Your Tongue

While brushing, make sure to scrub your tongue. Many people neglect to do this since they think all you have to clean is your teeth. But bacteria can flourish on your tongue, so you want to make sure you keep it as clean as possible.

Brush for 2 Minutes

Make sure you don’t rush through brushing your teeth. Set your phone timer for 2 minutes and take your time while brushing.

However, there’s such thing as brushing for too long. If you go over 2 minutes significantly, this can actually cause enamel erosion too. It can also damage your gums.

Use an Electric Toothbrush

Electric toothbrushes are superior to regular toothbrushes. They’re more effective at getting rid of plaque, which is what causes cavities.

Floss Gently

Many people get a piece of floss and then go at it as hard as they can. But this can hurt your gums and cause injury.

Instead, go about it slowly and gently. Once the floss reaches your gum line, use a C motion to get out pieces of food. This will prevent irritation and inflammation.

Avoid Eating or Drinking Acidic Things

Acidic foods and drinks will wear away at your teeth. Not only can this cause sensitivity and cavities, but it can also make your teeth discolored.

If you can avoid acidic foods and drinks, at least change how you consume them. Maybe you can drink wine just once a week or maybe you can sip your sodas through a straw.
