Hindu Wedding rituals in India include a number of ceremonial customs & rituals. These Rituals and customs are not made by us; instead they are old practices of our ancestors which are being followed by the generations with deep faith and blessings of our elders and antecedent. Undoubtedly wedding is the most awaited day for every human being, for once in a lifetime and is celebrated with holy heart. Indian Wedding Rituals Step By Step:-
1. Tilak Ceremony or Roka-
It is the first step and earlier it has to be done one month before the wedding but as per changing time and thinking of people it has become flexible. It somehow a symbol of beginning of relationship.
2. Engagement Ceremony-
This is a commitment from both the sides i.e. bride and groom that they are ready to exchange their rings.
3. Sangeet Ceremony-
As the name speaks it all, this day is for the enjoyment with lots of music and Dance. It is one of the most awaited and enjoyable day in Weddings.
Indian people are intense and passionate about elegance, beauty and allure.
4. Mehandi Night-
It is one of the most important pre wedding ceremonies; Mehendi is being applied on Bride to be hands. It is believed that the darker the color of Mehendi shows deep love between couple, and it is a sign of fertility too.
5. Haldi Ceremony-
Haldi ceremony is done on the same day of wedding; it is a ceremony where turmeric mixture has to be applied on Bride or Groom’s Face and body.
6. Var Mala Ceremony-
Commonly known as Jaimala also, it is basically exchange of garlands between Groom and Bride. It is one of the most important ceremonies of main ceremony.
7. Mandap Ceremony Or Saat Phere-
This is the main ceremony because all the rituals are accomplished at this ceremony. As per Indian rituals and ancestors during this ceremony it symbolized as a new birth to the couple.
8. MangalSutra And Sindoor Ceremony-
Mangalsutra is a sacred thread of love and symbolize of their marriage and so as Sindoor is worn in the partition of hairs.
9. Kanyadan-
It is done by Bride’s Side which is bifurcated as Kanya means Girl and Daan Means Donation, now a day as people are getting more education, knowledge etc. they are against this ritual and prefer not to do this anymore.
10. Vidaai Ceremony-
This is the most emotional and heart touching moment for everyone specially for Bride and her family, because she has to move from her family to bless a new family, leaving behind her everything even her surname,
Practically this is a day for every human being who is a dreamer and dream of getting married to the perfect one, and they are very lucky who gets there partner’s love for lifetime.
11. Reception Ceremony-
This is an optional ceremony which is done post wedding. This is to welcome new family member i.e. bride in the family and to accept her in Groom’s society in their own way.
